As the fertile San Joaquin Valley gives way to the
Sierra-Nevada Mountains, you will find a dozen or
more of California’s original gold mining towns. One
of the last towns between civilization and the rich
gold deposits of the mountains was that of Clements.
Nestled amongst vast orchards of fruits and nuts and
surrounded by majestic oak trees of centuries past,.
Clements and its rolling hills have maintained their
rural character despite the world-wide flood of
people seeking their fortunes in the hills. To this
day, Clements is still without a stoplight or gas
station or bank. There are no apartment buildings or
movie houses or malls. There are however 3 antique
stores, a world famous saddle shop, the local
“Feedlot” restaurant and the best hamburger joint in
the valley. From Clements, it’s only 75 miles to ski
at Lake Tahoe or Kirkwood and mere minutes to Sutter
Creek, Jackson, Angels Camp, Columbia or Murphys . .
. all preserved Gold Rush towns. Within 45 minutes
you will be in Old Town Sacrament or within 1.5
hours you can be shopping in downtown San Francisco,
both towns catering to international flight arrivals
and departures. So whether you enjoy skiing, quiet
bed and breakfasts or just leisurely drives through
some of America’s most beautiful countryside,
Clements is able to accommodate you.
